The 23rd edition of the PUMA Salzburg Marathon is your stage! When you cross the finish line in front of the Great Festival Hall, crown your targeted effort over months with an outstanding running experience. Feel the myth of the marathon. Starting documents, clothing, showers
Get your racing documents from the SportMall in the Volksgarten ice arena – Hermann-Bahr-Promenade 2, 5020 Salzburg. Friday, 15 May 2026 from 13-19 h Saturday, 16 May 2026 from 10-19 h
Fill in the back of your race number and attach it correctly to the outermost layer of clothing on your torso (front). The timing chip is integrated in the start number.
You can leave your things during the competition at the clothing drop-off point in the arcades of the University of Salzburg (entrance Furtwängler Garden). Only the Sparkasse starter bag with your start number on it will be accepted.
Our experienced team does its best - but we assume no liability in the event of loss.
You can leave other bags and suitcases in the designated area supervised by the event team for a fee of 5 euros.
Showers are available after crossing the finish line in the Sportzentrum Mitte, Ulrike-Gschwandtner-Straße 6. They are a good ten-minute walk from the finish area of the PUMA Salzburg Marathon.
Classification
General Class Women, Men & Diverse and Age Groups
Age-graded ranking
Only the overall rankings for women and men will be awarded. There will be no winners' awards for the age groups - we ask for your understanding.
The minimum age for participation is those born in 2008.
Prize money
At the PUMA Salzburg Marathon, the top three finishers receive prize money:
Victory at the PUMA Salzburg Marathon: 1,200 euros
2nd place at the PUMA Salzburg Marathon: 600 euros
3rd place at the PUMA Salzburg Marathon: 350 euros
The full amount applies to performances under 2:15:00 hours (men) and under 2:26:30 hours (women). 80 per cent for finishing times between 2:15:00 and 2:22:30 hours or between 2:26:30 and 2:35:00 hours. 60 per cent for times over 2:22:30 or 2:35:00 hours.
For a new course record (under 2:14:16 hours for men and under 2:35:05 hours for women) there is additional prize money of 500 euros.
Arrival & Parking
We recommend that you travel to Salzburg by public transport - relaxed, sustainable, sporty! Excellent train connections from the Westbahn line (from Vienna), from the Tauern line (south) and from Bavaria & Tyrol. good connections to the international airports in Vienna and Munich.
International accessibility via Salzburg Airport.
If you are arriving by car, we recommend the Park & Ride zones at the start and changing to the O-Bus in the city area. Paid parking garages (e.g. Mönchsberggarage) are available close to the center.
Timing and scoring
Our partner will take care of Datasport carried out.
The timing chip is integrated in the start number (RFID UHF transponder Mylaps). It must not be kinked or damaged under any circumstances.
Timekeeping is guaranteed to work if the bib number is worn correctly on the front of the torso, outermost layer of clothing.
The finish line for the marathon is 5:45 hours - if this goal is in danger, you can run to the half-marathon finish after the first lap and you will automatically be included in the half-marathon ranking.
In addition to the classic ratings (ranking according to gross times), the Salzburg Marathon offers an age-graded ranking.
Information about the start
The starting signal for the 23rd PUMA Salzburg Marathon will be given on 17 May 2026 at 08:30.
The start is on the Staatsbrücke with a wonderful view of the classic old town.
The starting procedure works best in several waves. Enter that starting block, which you chose when registering. It should correspond to your expected performance.
Medical care and refreshment points
The PUMA Salzburg Marathon offers comprehensive medical care in the finish area and along the route.
Along the route there are several refreshment points equipped with mobile sanitary facilities.
Self-catering is possible at all refreshment stations along the course. The drinks must be labelled with the correct number of the refreshment station (e.g. "V1, V2...") and handed in at the information stand of the Mozart City Running Festival in the Volksgarten ice arena by 7 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday at the latest.
