Registration & Information

  • Registration is open from August 24, 2023 – April 28, 2024
  • Registration is via our partner's registration platform Datasport away.
  • Entry fee/registration fee (per season, all processing and service fees are included in the entry fee):

  • Registration via form: Please fill in correctly the registration form for the relay marathon send it by e-mail to us.
  • The minimum age for participation is those born in 2010.
  • Decorate your running experience in Salzburg and book to register (also available individually):
    • Medal engraving (12 euros when booking in advance)
    • Bib-Bits magnets (bib number holder) – four pieces (12 euros)
    • Functional shirt (New Balance, 32 euros)
  • We warmly recommend you to do a health check before participating!

Competition schedule & stages

  • The relay marathon offers your team of four two different running distances - the stages of 15.2 & 5.9 kilometers each result in a half-marathon lap.
  • The relay handover zones are marked in yellow in the route map linked above (R for Relay).
  • The starting runner (start number A) runs from the start (8:40 a.m.) to the relay handover in front of the Stiegl Brauwelt.
  • The second runner (start number B) runs from the relay handover in front of the Stiegl Brauwelt to the relay handover at Universitätsplatz (intermediate half-marathon time).
  • The third runner (start number C) runs from the relay handover at Universitätsplatz to the relay handover in front of the Stiegl Brauwelt.
  • The fourth runner (start number D) runs from the relay handover in front of the Stiegl Brauwelt to the finish in Hofstallgasse.
  • TOGETHER TO THE FINISHLINE – the first three runners in a relay can rejoin the race at Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz as soon as the last runner passes. Complete the last meters together and enjoy the emotions of crossing the finish line together!

Starting documents, clothing, showers

  • A member of the relay collects the starting documents for all four runners from the SportMall in the Eisarena Volksgarten from – Hermann-Bahr-Promenade 2.
    • Friday, May 10, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m
    • Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • Please pay attention to the letters on the start number, which must match the order given when registering: A = 1st runner (running distance: 15.2 km); B = 2nd runner (running distance: 5.9 km); C = 3rd runner (running distance: 15.2 km); D = 4th runner (running distance: 5.9 km)
  • Fill in the back of your race number and attach it correctly to the outermost layer of clothing on your torso (front). The timing chip is integrated in the start number.
  • You can hand in your belongings during the competition at the clothing drop-off point in the arcades of the University of Salzburg. Only the Sparkasse starter package with your start number will be accepted. It is not possible to hand in clothes at the handover points (in front of Stiegl Brauwelt)!
  • Our experienced team does its best - but we assume no liability in the event of loss.
  • You can leave other bags and suitcases in the designated tent, which is looked after by the event team, for a fee of 5 euros.
  • Showers are available after your race at “Sportzentrum Mitte“ (Ulrike-Gschwandtner-Straße 6). You will reach them in a ten minutes walk from the finish area of the Salzburg Marathon.

Arrival & Parking

  • We recommend that you travel to Salzburg by public transport - relaxed, sustainable, sporty!
    • excellent train connections from the Westbahn line (from Vienna), from the Tauern line (south) and from Bavaria & Tyrol. Good connection to the international airports in Vienna and Munich.
    • Free arrival with the marathon train from the Salzburg mountain districts (on presentation of the start number or confirmation of registration).
    • International accessibility via Salzburg Airport.
  • You can also use public transport to get around the city on the weekend of the event. Your start number and your registration confirmation (start pass) are valid as a ticket in the city area fare zone on the competition days.
  • If you are arriving by car, we recommend the Park & Ride zones at the start and changing to the O-Bus in the city area. Paid parking garages (e.g. Mönchsberggarage) are available close to the center.

Timing and scoring

  • Our partner will take care of the timing Datasport carried out.
  • The timing chip is integrated in the start number. It must not be kinked or damaged under any circumstances.
  • Timekeeping is guaranteed to work if the race number is worn correctly on the front of the torso, outermost layer of clothing.

Information about the start

  • The relay marathon starts on May 12, 2024 at 8:40 a.m.
  • For the first time, the start is on the “Staatsbrücke“ with a wonderful view of the classic old town.
  • All starting runners start from the last starting block of the marathon and half marathon line-up - line-up on Schwarzstrasse.

  • The Running Festival of MozartCity offers comprehensive medical care in the finish area and on the route.
  • Along the route there are several refreshment points equipped with mobile sanitary facilities.
