When you cross the finish line in front of the Great Festival Hall, crown your targeted effort over months with an outstanding running experience. Registration is open from September 7th, 2022 – May 7th, 2023
The registration runs through our registration platform Njuko.

Get your starting documents from the SportMall in the Eisarena Volksgarten from – Hermann-Bahr-Promenade 2.

Fill in the back of your race number and attach it correctly to the outermost layer of clothing on your torso (front). The timing chip is integrated in the start number.
You can hand in your belongings during the competition at the clothing drop-off point in the arcades of the University of Salzburg. Only the starter package from the Sparkasse with your start number will be accepted.
Our experienced team does its best - but we assume no liability in the event of loss.
You can leave other bags and suitcases in the designated tent, which is looked after by the event team, for a fee of 5 euros.
Shower facilities are available from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sportzentrum Salzburg Mitte, Ulrike-Schwandtner-Straße 6-8. The Salzburg Mitte sports center is about a 10-minute walk from the destination. Please note: no cloakroom!

Age groups M/W U20 & every five years from 30.
Only the overall ratings for women and men are awarded.

Arrival & Parking
We recommend that you travel to Salzburg by public transport - relaxed, sustainable, sporty!
excellent train connections from the Westbahn line (from Vienna), from the Tauern line (south) and from Bavaria & Tyrol. Good connection to the international airports in Vienna and Munich.
Free arrival with the marathon train from the Salzburg mountain districts (on presentation of the start number or confirmation of registration).
International accessibility via Salzburg Airport.
You can also use public transport to get around the city on the weekend of the event. Your start number and your registration confirmation (start pass) are valid as a ticket in the city area fare zone on the competition days.
If you are arriving by car, we recommend the Park & Ride zones at the start and changing to the O-Bus in the city area. Paid parking garages (e.g. Mönchsberggarage) are available close to the center.
Timing and scoring
Our partner Pentek Timing will take care of the timekeeping.
The timing chip is integrated in the start number. It must not be kinked or damaged under any circumstances.
Timekeeping is guaranteed to work if the race number is worn correctly on the front of the torso, outermost layer of clothing.
The finish line for the marathon is 5:45 hours - if this goal is in danger, you can run to the half-marathon finish after the first lap and you will automatically be included in the half-marathon ranking.
In addition to the classic ratings (ranking according to gross times), the Salzburg Marathon offers an age-graded ranking.
Information about the start
The starting signal for the 20th Salzburg Marathon will be on May 21, 2023 at 9 a.m.
The start is at Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz (starting grid in Griesgasse).
The starting procedure works best in several waves. Enter that starting block, which you chose when registering. It should correspond to your expected performance.
Medical care and refreshment points
The Running Festival of MozartCity offers comprehensive medical care in the finish area and on the route.
Along the route there are several refreshment points equipped with mobile sanitary facilities.
Self-catering is possible at all refreshment stations along the route. The drinks must be provided with the correct number of the refreshment station (e.g. "V1, V2...") and handed in at the Salzburg Marathon information stand in the Eisarena Volksgarten by 7:30 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday at the latest.

Are there starting blocks at the Salzburg Marathon? The starting field of the 20th Salzburg Marathon and the Sparkasse half marathon will start in three waves. You have already decided upon the starting block during the registration process, the corresponding color of the starting block is noted on the bib number. Please note that if you start from the wrong starting block, a penalty of three minutes will be added to the gross time. Starting block 1 & 2 (Green & Orange) starts at 9am (expected finish time under 3:30 in marathon / 1:45 in half marathon) Starting block 3 (red) starts at 9:03 am (expected finish time 3:30–4:00 in marathon / 1:45–2:00 in half marathon) Starting block 4 (blue) starts at 9:06 a.m. (expected finish time over 4:00 in the marathon / over 2:00 in the half marathon) & all starting runners of the POWERADE relay marathon
Is there prize money at the Salzburg Marathon? Yes, only in the marathon and equally for men and women. €800 for the win €400 for second place €250 for third place * The full amount is paid out for performances under 2:20 (men) and 2:45 hours (women). For finish times between 2:20 and 2:30 or 2:45 and 2:55 hours, the prize money is reduced to 80%, for performances over 2:30 or 2:55 hours to 60%.
