BIB start number collection
You will receive your start number at the SportMall the two-day sports and activity fair for the running festival in the city of Mozart. The SportMall takes place in the Volksgarten ice arena, Hermann-Bahn-Promedade 2, 5020 Salzburg.
Opening hours:
- Friday, 16 May 2025: 13:00 - 19:00
- Saturday, 17 May 2025: 10:00 - 18:00
You will receive your starting number at the SportMall, the two-day sports and activity fair at the running festival in the city of Mozart. The SportMall takes place in the Volksgarten ice arena, Hermann-Bahn-Promenade 2, 5020 Salzburg.
Opening hours:
- Friday, 16 May 2025: 13:00 - 19:00
- Saturday, 17 May 2025: 10:00 - 18:00
The start number distribution is organised by competition. You can pick up your race number up to one hour before the start of the race. For the Cup&Cino breakfast run you will receive your starting documents on Friday.
Special case summit meeting: The start number collection for the summit meeting on Sunday, 11 May will take place directly before the start in the Volksgarten (8:00 - 8:45 am near the kiosk).
Our tip: Come early and discover the offers and trends of our exhibitors at the SportMall!
The correct attachment of your race number is crucial for accurate timekeeping:
- Fill in the back first
- Attach the race number to the outer layer of clothing on your upper body (front)
- The start number must not be bent or twisted
- The number must be clearly visible during the entire run
Important note: The timing chip is integrated in the start number for all races except the Summit Meeting and the Cup&Cino Breakfast Run.
Mounting options:
- You will receive four safety pins when you collect your race number
- Alternatively, we recommend the Salzburg Marathon Bib Bits (magnets) for 12 euros, available at the SportMall - reusable for all future runs!

The SportMall@Salzburg Marathon is the largest sports and activity fair in Salzburg and therefore an indispensable highlight in the programme of the running festival in the city of Mozart.
The SportMall in the Volksgarten ice arena is not only a meeting point for over 15,000 visitors, but also your perfect start to the marathon weekend. Here you can meet like-minded people, stock up on the latest products and get valuable tips for your run.

The Salzburg Marathon route takes runners directly to the most beautiful places in the city. The following eight world-famous sights make it unique and complete a magnificent running experience at the running festival in the city of Mozart.

Pacemaker
Our pacemakers will help you to achieve your desired time at the Salzburg Marathon and the Sparkasse Half Marathon. Follow their lead - they run at a constant pace over the entire distance.
With our experienced pacemakers, you can concentrate fully on your running experience. They are characterised by eye-catching flags and jerseys and guide you through every phase of the race with precise speed control - from start to finish.
The Sound of Running
14 music spots along the half marathon course of the Salzburg Marathon will take you on a special and varied musical journey. While you runners are given the right rhythm, the spectators are guaranteed the best entertainment.
In Mozart's home town, music is indispensable - even during a marathon! Our ten strategically placed music spots provide the perfect soundtrack to your run and give you an energy boost exactly when you need it most.

Sustainable to the finish - your journey to the Salzburg Marathon
Think about the environment when you travel to the Running festival of MozartCity. Together we can improve the ecological footprint of the event with targeted measures!
Free public transport to the start
Your race number is your ticket! From 16 to 18 May, your start number or start pass is valid as a free ticket for:
- All public urban transport in the core zone of the city of Salzburg
- The S3 railway line (regional trains only)
- ONLY on the day of your competition, without time restrictions
Marathon train: Together to the start!
Are you from the southern parts of the country? Take the special marathon train that leaves on Sunday morning at 5:54 pm in Schwarzach starts and around 7:14 am the Salzburg Altstadt/Mülln railway station achieved - direct connection, atmospheric and motivating!
For hotel guests
As an overnight guest, you benefit from the Guest Mobility Card, which allows you to use public transport throughout the province of Salzburg free of charge during your stay.
Arrival at the SportMall (16/17 May)
How to get to the ice arena in the Volksgarten:
- By public transportTrolleybus lines 6, 7 and 10 ("Volksgarten" stop) or bus lines to the "Äußerer Stein" stop
- On footOnly 15 minutes from the local railway station "Parsch"
- By carNO parking spaces available in the Volksgarten! We recommend the Barmherzige Brüder car park or the Mönchsberggarage (special rate: €4.40 for 4 hours, €6.60 for 8 hours - get your ticket punched at the information desk).
Arrival at the marathon (18 May)
Private transport is restricted on the day of the marathon in Salzburg. We strongly recommend:
If travelling by car: Park & Ride on the outskirts of the city or Mönchsberg underground car park (special rates as above)
Use of public transport with your race number as a free ticket
traffic information
Salzburg belongs to running enthusiasts on 18 May 2025! Due to the PUMA Salzburg Marathon and other running events, there will be traffic restrictions in the city area. Roads along the marathon route from 8 am to 3 pm and the CityRun route from 8 am to 10.30 am are particularly affected. Cyclists and pedestrians should show consideration during the Women's Run on 16 May. Current route information can be found online - please follow the instructions of the police and marshals.
The running festival in the city of Mozart will bring temporary changes to city transport. Here is an overview for your planning:
Minimal restrictions:
- Sunday, 11 May (summit meeting): No significant restrictions
- Friday, 16 May (Salzburg Women's Run, 19:15-20:15): Short waiting times at the Giselakai and on the banks of the Salzach
- Saturday, 17 May (Junior Marathon, Bunte Sportpalette, Inclusion Run): Hardly any restrictions
Main event day - Sunday, 18 May:
On this day, Salzburg's streets belong to the runners! Please plan accordingly:
- Blue route (marathon, half marathon, relay marathon): 8:00-15:00 closed
- Red route (10K CityRun section): 8:00-10:30 a.m. closed
Important: The routes will be opened in sections as soon as the last participants have passed!
For car drivers:
- Avoid travelling in the city during event times
- Use the designated diversion routes
- Crossing the running course is ONLY permitted under the instruction of the marshals and police
For cyclists and pedestrians:
- Hardly any restrictions, only short waiting times when crossing the running track
- During the Women's Run (16 May) we ask cyclists to show consideration for each other on the cycle paths along the banks of the Salzach

Who is behind our Medical Service?
Dr Sareban has been looking after top athletes such as Olympic athlete Peter Herzog for years and knows exactly what a runner's body needs. His dual perspective - as a doctor and an active runner - makes him the ideal contact for all your marathon-related health questions.
When and where? Personal consultation on Saturday, 17 May from 2 to 5 pm at the SportMall. On race day: medical points at the start/finish and at strategic points along the route.

No, the registration is closed. There is a starting place exchange on the platform of our registration partner Datasports, where starting places that have become available can be easily re-registered: https://www.datasport.de/anmeldeservice/salzburgmarathon2025
There are six refreshment stations and two water stations per lap. In other words, twice the number on the marathon distance. You can see them marked on our interactive route map:

Yes, the course of the Salzburg Marathon is officially measured and certified. The Salzburg Marathon is also registered in the Global Calendar of World Athletics. The performances achieved are therefore suitable for the best lists and are recognised, for example, as qualifying times for the Boston Marathon.
Our finishing time is 5:30 hours (net). So 14:15. The same guideline also applies to the half marathon.
The showers in the sports centre Mitte (Ulrike-Gschwandtner-Straße 6) are available to participants. If you have any questions, please contact the information desk.

Uni Salzburg runs with you - at the Salzburg Marathon 2025!
Sporty, motivated and with team spirit: At the Salzburg Marathon, the University of Salzburg once again sets a strong running example for exercise, health and community.
In 2025, we will be the largest team at the start: over 500 starters from all areas of the university - students, researchers, teaching staff and administrative employees - will lace up their running shoes and be part of this sporting highlight in the centre of the university city of Salzburg. Visitor information
The spectator experience will reach a new level at this year's Salzburg Marathon. In addition to the well-known hotspots around the world-famous sights of the city of Mozart, such as Hellbrunn Palace, Leopoldskron Palace or the passage through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Salzburg's Old Town, there will be a special "adventure mile" for all participants and running fans on 18 May.
PUMA provides the first highlight with the Highpoint Zone (based on the famous "Runner's High") at the Platzl. The Highpoint is a defined section within the PUMA Zone where the boot is actually visible and measurable. This spectatorfriendly and participantThis internally motivating spot is a special source of energy before the last sections of the route to the finish - or on the second marathon lap.
After crossing the Staatsbrücke bridge with its magnificent view of the old town and Hohensalzburg Fortress, the field reached the Powerade Zone at Hanuschplatz. The first three runners gather after their stakesThe relay team members are waiting for their team member in this relaxation zone. Together they set off on the last few hundred metres towards the finish line. Like all runnersDuring the main competition, they pass the spectator-friendly Hervis spot on Anton-Neumayr-Platz - the perfect motivational boost for the approaching finish line.
