Home wins at the Salzburger Nachrichten 10K City-Run
Traditionally, the participants of the Salzburger Nachrichten 10k City-Run opened the marathon Sunday in the city of Mozart. Peter Herzog from Saalfelden was the first to reach the finish line at Residenzplatz in a very strong winning time of 32:13 minutes and was then very happy with his strong performance: "I'm very satisfied, it was a perfect race for me," said the winner and praised the optimal circumstances: “It was perfect for running, no wind. Just a 'great' atmosphere and a 'great' race!” Three weeks ago, the long-distance specialist had completed the Vienna City Marathon in an excellent time of 2:30:36 hours and presented himself as well recovered in Salzburg.
The podium turned out to be international, as the Hungarian Daniel Soos (Margitszigeti Athletikai Club) and the German (TSV Waging) finished the race almost two minutes behind the superior winner next. The second best from Salzburg, Peter Müllner (SV Cobra/Trumer Tri Team) took fourth place.
The women's race was also decided by a woman from Salzburg. The only 17-year-old Laura Sommerauer (Massage Praxis Wolfspfote) from Zell am See crossed the finish line in a time of 38:50 minutes and thus celebrated a superior victory with a lead of more than one minute over the German Stefanie Schnee (MRRC Munich) and Bettina Adelsberger (Lennox), who narrowly prevailed in the battle for third place against Karin Innerbner (South Tyrolean Running Club Sparkasse) from South Tyrol. "A great feeling, a great event," said winner Sommerauer in praise of the Salzburg Marathon. "I was there last year and it was so much fun that I really wanted to be at the start again this year." As a reward, the talented young runner was able to celebrate a new personal best over 10 kilometers.
In addition to the individual ranking, the participants in the Salzburger Nachrichten 10k City Run were able to take part in the smart team challenge in teams of four at no additional cost. All-male teams, all-female teams and mixed teams were evaluated.
