Local heroes win "age-graded" rating

For the first time, an official "age-graded" evaluation was carried out as part of the Salzburg Marathon. This ranking includes the age factor in the net times. Thanks to the premiere, the excitement remained high because only insiders of the rating introduced by the WMA (World Masters Athletes) were able to calculate forecasts.

The premiere winner in the "age-graded" ranking is the men's state champion Robert Gruber in a calculated WMA time of 2:21:17 hours, just ahead of marathon winner Temesgen Bekele and the 70-year-old South Tyrolean Hermann Schaiter. In the women's race, local hero Sabine Hofer (LAC Salzburg) won in a calculated WMA time of 2:25:13 hours ahead of Christine Schmelz (LCAV Jodl Packaging) and Ilse Haider (SK Vöest).

The organizer also offered this special service in the half marathon and in the Salzburger Nachrichten 10K City-Marathon, throwing a new perspective on the excellent performances that runners deliver at an advanced age.
