New partnership with Hyundai

With Hyundai, the Salzburg Marathon presented a new premium partner in the area of sponsoring and environmentally friendly mobility at the press event in the Wyndham Grand Salzburg Conference Centre, the official Salzburg Marathon Hotel. “Further and faster – and all climate-friendly. In close cooperation with Hyundai, RunAustria head coach and Salzburg marathon organizer Johannes Langer is organizing five running clubs between April 13 and May 12 under the motto "Runday Monday" and five other running clubs on selected dates. This exercise initiative, which takes place at various locations in the province of Salzburg, is a special offer for the people of Salzburg who value running, walking and an active lifestyle. The red carpet in front of the Festspielhaus offers all participants in the main competitions the atmospheric finish line on the Sunday of the marathon. In this unique atmosphere, all athletes cheer on their achievements - because at the running festival in the city of Mozart, every participant is a winner - whether at the Salzburg Marathon, the Sparkasse Half Marathon, the Hyundai Relay Marathon or the Hervis-10K Salzburg CityRun.
On Friday and Saturday, the running festival of the city of Mozart takes place in the Volksgarten, which is close to the center. Especially the family day with sports day, junior marathon and Coca-Cola integration run benefits from the spacious and natural terrain on Saturday. For the first time, the SportMall will be hosted by the Eisarena Volksgarten.

New impetus for the Salzburg Women's Run

The three-day application program with numerous exciting initiatives and campaigns, which has been tried and tested over the past few years, is being upgraded. For the first time, the Salzburg Women's Run will open the running festival in the city of Mozart on Friday evening. "After ten successful years, the time has come to give the Salzburg Women's Run a new impetus. As an evening event with a focus on salsa and samba music, the runners and walkers will be offered an attractive program,” explains Ruth Langer, organizer of the Salzburg Women's Run. The opening day of the running festival in the city of Mozart has the motto "Women's Power Day" and also includes special women's focuses at the SportMall. With the tried-and-tested slogan "Like to run for life", Salzburg's largest active sports event only for women and girls is continuing its charity initiatives for women's breast health together with its loyal partner, the Austrian Cancer Aid Salzburg.

New team experience: the Hyundai relay marathon

On Sunday, the Hyundai relay marathon celebrates its comeback. Four runners split the marathon distance, with the first and third runners completing a distance of 15.2 kilometers, the second and fourth a distance of 5.9 kilometers. This division facilitates the flexible composition of the four-person teams in the circle of friends and in companies and offers the stage for a special, joint running experience.

Proven movement initiative for Salzburg schoolchildren

One of the highlights of the Salzburg running weekend this year is the junior marathon - a unique stage for young Salzburg runners. In order to make this fantastic running experience possible for schoolchildren throughout the province of Salzburg, the Salzburg Marathon works closely with directors and dedicated teachers in advance. Sports students hold lessons in the participating schools based on sports science lesson plans and show the children and young people the beautiful sides of running in advance. "Exercise and sport is an important educational task in Austrian schools," emphasizes Robert Tschaut from the Education Directorate for Salzburg.

Proven three-day program

The 16th Salzburg Marathon is traditionally the highlight of a weekend dedicated to running, and around 8,000 runners from the city and state of Salzburg and from 80 nations on all continents are expected. “The interest shown so far by the running scene as part of our numerous trade fair appearances and the pre-registrations make us very positive. We are also quite successful in compensating for the airport closure and bringing our guests to Salzburg via Munich and Vienna,” says Langer.
