Black bread with Westphalian ham meets Salzburg dumplings and Mozart balls: a group of 23 people from Westphalia in Germany is looking forward to the sporting experience at the running festival in the city of Mozart. 17 of the participants from the region around the cities of Bielefeld and Münster will be actively involved and discover the sights at a run.

Among them a Westphalian running legend: Gottfried Schäfers turned 80 last November, has been running since he was 35 and has completed 204 marathons (best time 2:57:00 hours in 1990) in all parts of the world since 1986 . "I've circumnavigated the world three times," says the fit pensioner, looking at his running training book, because he runs around 4,000 kilometers a year. In the city of Mozart he will start at the Hervis-10K Salzburg CityRun - certainly as one of the oldest participants in the running festival.

Schäfers – who has worked for the German running magazine Spiridon for many years – feels in good hands in his sporty travel group. Under the motto "Runners for runners", Bernd Lüdemann and Hans-Dieter Wierum from LC Solbad Ravensberg have been successfully organizing trips to attractive running destinations in German-speaking countries for several years - from the North Sea islands of Borkum, Norderney and Föhr to Lake Constance and now for the first time to Salzburg . Even senior runners who have been active for decades know what is important for athletes in terms of organization and personal support.
