Hyundai Relay Marathon: Everything is easier in a team

Running doesn't have to be an individual sport. This was impressively demonstrated at today's Hyundai relay marathon as part of the running festival in the city of Mozart. Whether as a mixed, women's or men's relay - enthusiastic team players got their money's worth today. With the two teams of the Austrian Sports Aid, one or the other prominent Austrian athlete was there.

mixed relay

The team "Auch namenlos grandios" completed the 42.195 kilometre course the fastest in the mixed relay. The quartet of Rupert Fuschlberger, Christoph Kreindl, Tanja Cais and Oliver Kreindl took just 2:56:19 hours to complete the marathon distance, securing victory ahead of "Team Sporthilfe Hyundai 1". The celebrity relay team of Peter Herzog, Sabine Schöffmann, Chiara Hölzl and Daniel Leutgeb took second place with a time of 3:00:50 hours. Third place went to the "BSV Flughafen München" team with Hans Mair, Barbara Gruber, Thomas Gutsche and Gisela Scheuplein in 3:10:53 hours.

Peter Herzog after his run at the Hyundai Relay Marathon:

"It was my first competitive impulse after the Vienna City Marathon. I wanted to start cautiously, but with a race number on my jersey and the great atmosphere everywhere, you immediately feel the motivation. I ran the first five kilometres with the marathon leader. That was a really good feeling. The relay is a great competition for everyone. My colleagues first have to bring their lead to the finish line, but the exact position is not really the main focus here. For me, it was the start of the second half of the season in preparation for a marathon in the autumn."

Men's Relay

The fastest men's relay team and also the fastest relay time at this year's running festival in the city of Mozart was achieved by the "Rauschige Ironmänner" team. The four runners Clemens Gruber, Rene Buchendorfer, Johannes Prodinger and Markus Eder won with a total time of 2:51:10 hours. Second place in the men's race went to the BSV Flughafen München relay team (3:15:12 hours) with Hans Mair, Wolfgang Gruber, Gottfried Gams and Klaus Scheuplein. The podium was completed by the "Mulatschak stammtisch" (3:30:16 hours) with Andreas Silly, Stefan Andreutz, Thomas Erlinger and Thomas Stoxreiter.

Women's Relay

In the women's race, the quartet "MotiVIERT" with Christina Hochwimmer, Eva Ortner, Lisa Schiefer and Daniela Scharfetter took first place in a time of 3:41:47 hours.
