Marco Kern: "The most beautiful finish"

Happy and exhausted he ran to the finish, Marco Kern, winner of the Sparkasse half marathon. The likeable Swiss man had to catch his breath before he bravely answered the journalists' questions: "A big compliment to the organizers for the top event. This is the most beautiful finish I've ever seen! Of course, the temperature wasn't easy for running today, but I pulled out all the stops and the mood in the city was great!” Second in the men's category was Stigter Bas. The Dutchman was very happy about the podium place. He enjoyed even more that it was even the second place. Despite the warm weather, he was able to meet his goal of under 1:10. 

Edeltraud Thaler, the women's winner, only had words of praise for the Sparkasse half marathon: "There were many shady places, but the route was generally easy to run. Today I was surprised at myself, I didn't expect this performance. I'll be back!"

The mood in the finish area was based on the sunny weather. Although some had to struggle with the unexpected heat, the runners were still happy about the great track conditions and the lively atmosphere. A wide range of refreshments with isotonic drinks, water, Coca-Cola and non-alcoholic beer awaited all participants behind the finish area, which was gratefully accepted.
