The winners of the Hervis-10K Salzburg CityRun
The Hervis-10K Salzburg CityRun recently came to an end. With Cornelia Stöckl-Moser, the favorite clearly prevailed among the women. In the men's category, victory went to Hans Wieser.
The grand finale of the running festival in the city of Mozart – the marathon Sunday – opened with the Hervis-10K Salzburg CityRun. In a fantastic atmosphere and the best running conditions, countless motivated runners tackled the ten-kilometer route at 8:45 a.m. While the women's victory went to the clear favourite, the men's ranking won a not too familiar face.
Stöckl-Moser wins women's classification
Salzburg's Cornelia Stöckl-Moser lived up to her role as favorite at the Hervis-10K Salzburg CityRun and won the men's competition in a time of 38:09 minutes. After a less than optimal preparation due to the regeneration from the Linz marathon, the athlete from SC Leogang is satisfied: "It was a great atmosphere with the many spectators and the music along the route. My race was good, it reflects my training condition,” Stöckl-Moser commented on her performance after the race. "In the near future I will concentrate on preparing for the half marathon," she added.
Sabine Hofer from LAC Salzburg secured second place among the women in a time of 39:50 minutes. Despite this top result in relation to her age, she usually prefers the somewhat longer distances. “What was special this year was that I ran the 10 and not the marathon. There is a laughing and a crying eye because I would have liked to run the marathon, but unfortunately I can't at the moment," said Hofer.
Christina Schörghofer from Salzburg completed the victory podium. The third-placed reached the finish after 41:39 minutes and was very satisfied with her performance: "The race was very good, but tiring but good."
Victory in the men went to Hans Wieser
Hans Wieser is this year's winner of the Hervis-10K Salzburg CityRun. In an impressive manner, the young runner from Flinke Horde Gröbming prevailed against his opponents in a time of 34:06 minutes. He was able to really soak up the positive atmosphere during the race: "It was a great atmosphere and scenery on the track," enthused Wieser. The fact that he was at the front quite early in the race was the recipe for success. “I was able to pull away well at the beginning, that was great. I'm not exactly sure why it went so smoothly. Maybe because the sun was beating down so much,” said Wieser with a smile.
Second place in the men's race went to David Denifl from SV Raika Stubai, who finished in 35:40 minutes. Third place went to Lukas Obersamer (FH Salzburg) in 35:49 minutes.
