Statement – organizer Johannes Langer
Dear running friend, dear running friend,
at the weekend things should really get going in Salzburg!
As we know, this is currently not possible. That's why we invite you and your friends to give you a little boost of motivation 4.2 challenge #4point2challenge!
The 4.2 Challenge on May 17, 2020 is to run or walk 4.2 kilometers or half an hour on Sunday to support various charities. You do this to support great projects. I ask you to dedicate and donate 4.2 kilometers (note: 1/10 of the marathon distance!) of your Sunday run to the aid organizations. In addition, I ask you to refrain from forming groups during this run or to continue to observe the minimum distances.
I would be very happy if as many as possible support the campaign. Of course you can and should take photos, document your run on social media and tag the posts with the hashtags #4point2challenge, #OneMileForASmile, #run@home. Then your contribution will also appear on our social wall.
A quick word from me from the trainer's point of view: Luckily, running is possible without restrictions and is currently being enjoyed by more people than ever before. Stay tuned and use the wonderful spring days for your favorite hobby. Move at a moderate pace and build up effective immune protection. With this you protect yourself and others, because through sport we should now build up protection and not exhaust ourselves. It's also time for competitions again.
Then there is another, but very important point: I am very happy that we were able to make an offer to those who have already registered to compensate for the entry fees and additional services before the date of our running festival. Our team has been hard at work preparing for the weekend of May 17, 2020 for around a year. A large part of the preparatory work had already been completed when we had to cancel the event due to force majeure. A new federal law to protect sports life from further effects of the COVID-19 pandemic is helping us, but at the same time no runner loses the money they have paid in. If the personal email to every registered person and every registered person is not received, you are welcome to contact us directly (office@salzburg-marathon.at).
Our organization team looks to the future with a lot of confidence and is already looking forward to meeting you and many other running friends.
Thank you for your solidarity with the running community and your understanding of the measures we have taken - and for Sunday, run or walk 4.2K!
Sporty greetings from Salzburg - stay healthy
