Antigen testing: a step towards a comeback in running?

“Outdoor grassroots sporting events are the most powerful motivator for regular physical exercise and thus for strengthening short-term and long-term health. It is therefore also important from an overall perspective if running events are made possible in a safe manner with the instrument of entry tests. As organizers, we have experience with the implementation of Covid-19 concepts and can make an important contribution to raising awareness in communicating with the running community," says Johannes Langer, organizer of the Salzburg Marathon.

In a joint media release, the organizers of the Vienna City Marathon, the Austrian Women's Run, the Salzburg Marathon and the Spartan Races Austria have signaled their strong willingness to make the local running enthusiasts the most attractive offer possible as soon as the general conditions allow. They are willing to provide rapid antigen tests for all those involved for the implementation of running events within a certain framework and to guarantee that they will be handled professionally. The four organizers are thus underscoring the desire to fulfill their ambition of wanting to inspire people to lead an active and therefore healthy lifestyle, even in difficult times.
