Double happiness for Cornelia Stöckl-Moser

After crossing the finish line in 20:47 minutes, Cornelia Stöckl-Moser (SC Leogang) seemed relaxed and was visibly happy about her renewed success in the Salzburg Women's Run. "It's always nice to run here, the atmosphere is just so enjoyable." The Salzburg top runner says goodbye to the weekend of the Running Festival in the City of Mozart, where she will still contest the Hervis-10K Salzburg CityRun on Sunday top sporting thoughts: "We are expecting our first baby," announced she and her husband Andreas Stöckl, himself one of the fastest half marathon runners in the Salzburg region, who hung the medal around her neck at the finish. “I will continue to lace up my running shoes and go running regularly in the coming weeks and months. But of course not competition-oriented, but very relaxed and full of enjoyment,” explained the Pinzgauer.

A pleasure from the first to the last step

The 27-year-old was satisfied with her performance on the 5.5-kilometer course with start and finish in the Volksgarten. After a fast first kilometer of a smaller leading group, the 2019 state champion in the marathon held her pace in the lead on the second kilometer and reached the finish line in a time of 20:47 minutes. “Today was surprisingly easy. My legs felt good, I thoroughly enjoyed the run from the first step to the last.”

A professional walker and last year's winner on the podium

Behind the serial winner of the Salzburg Women's Run, Inna Loseva reached the finish line in 21:08 minutes. The Ukrainian is one of the best walkers on the continent and is preparing for the 20 km competition at the European Championships in Munich. She left her home a few weeks ago and now lives in St. Margareten im Lungau. "It was my first jogging competition in maybe ten years," she said. Focusing on sport is not easy for her at the moment: “I am often sad, constantly thinking about my compatriots in Ukraine, primarily my relatives. I ran for my home country today.”

Third place went to Therese Wagenleitner (ASV Salzburg LA), who won the last edition of the Salzburg Women's Run last fall. She clocked a time of 21:24 and was happy with her performance. The Salzburg Women's Run was the start of an adventurous weekend for her - on Sunday she will be at the start of the marathon and is aiming for the Salzburg state championship title.

The sun shines in the Volksgarten

Almost 600 runners and walkers crossed the finish line at the 14th edition of the Salzburg Women's Run, the first since 2019 as part of the Running Festival in the City of Mozart. They ensured the usual inspiring and rousing atmosphere in the Volksgarten. Before and after the sporting competitions, the event area in the newly designed Volksgarten was well filled, and the atmosphere was excellent. "The sun came out just in time for the joint warm-up with the Salsa Studio Salzburg and provided a very special light in the Volksgarten. It was a symbolic moment and the runners and walkers deserved these great conditions. I am very pleased that they were there with so much enthusiasm and positive attitude - it was a very successful start to the weekend of the Running Festival in the City of Mozart," said organizer Ruth Langer.

In any case, the winners on Friday evening yesterday were all those who enjoyed a great running experience in the Volksgarten and the togetherness in a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere. The Salzburg Women's Run was the latest highlight of the year-round exercise initiative "Frau läuft!". As a loyal charity partner, the Austrian Cancer Aid in Salzburg was on board for the 14th time. “Run and do good for yourself and for others. That's the motto of the Salzburg Women's Run," emphasized Langer, who pointed out the preventive effect of regular physical activity on breast cancer, which has been proven in studies.
