The Salzburg half marathon route has to be completed twice for the marathon. According to the survey report, it is "flat" and leads past the most famous sights of the city of Mozart. It contains unique passages such as Hellbrunner Allee or the palace area of the pleasure palace Hellbrunn as well as the finish line in front of the Great Festival Hall.
The running route of the Salzburg Women's Run with start and finish in the Volksgarten is also flat and leads along the banks of the Salzach. The running circuit for the Junior Marathon and the Inclusion Run is embedded in the green and shady Volksgarten, a local recreation area close to the center.
With the age restrictions of the Salzburg Marathon and the Sparkasse half marathon, the Salzburg Marathon is based on the recommendations of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics)!
At least in terms of their physical condition, children can achieve amazing things. Their small, light bodies are predestined for endurance sports, their organism can adapt to regular training just as well as that of an adult. But children need the freedom to determine the intensity.
Because even if their bodies can achieve great endurance, monotonous sports such as long-distance running and triathlon are hardly suitable for children in the long run. The movement drive of this age group is characterized by short periods of attention and spontaneous intermittent activities. If performance is not conveyed in a playful and varied way, there is a risk that young people interested in sports will quickly lose interest or that joints, tendons and cartilage will be overburdened.
The training that adults complete is not suitable for children and young people. Speed and coordination can best be trained at a young age, and this can best be implemented in varied, playful and appealing endurance training. With the junior marathon and other competitions, the running festival in the city of Mozart offers a number of options that meet the needs of young runners.
If you are registered for the PUMA Salzburg Marathon but would prefer to run the Sparkasse Half Marathon, you do not need to re-register. This has to do with the course characteristics. Simply cross the finish line after one lap (and don't turn onto the second lap) and collect your finisher medal. You will automatically be included in the half marathon classification.
If you have not taken out cancellation insurance, the Salzburg Marathon offers a special service. You can find more information under the menu item Cancellations and Changes in Registration.
Booked additional services such as medal engraving, the purchase of BibBits or the functional shirt are automatically transferred to the substitute runner.
It is also possible to re-register between different competitions. Just get in touch with us by sending an email to office@salzburg-marathon.at. It is not necessary to change your registration from the marathon to the half marathon - just run to the finish after one lap and you will automatically be included in the correct ranking.
Please note: If you change your registration for a competition, any insurance you have taken out expires, as this is related to both the person and the competition.
No, in Austria you are not required to present a sports medical certificate to take part in running events. We trust that you will only take part if you are properly prepared and in good health. We recommend that all participants undergo a sports medical examination, especially if they are unsure.
